The site is located in Fareham, a Hampshire borough located on the south east coast of England. Fareham sits centrally within the South Hampshire conurbation between Southampton and Portsmouth.

The site is situated on the eastern side of Newgate Lane (B3385), the main route which links Fareham to the north of the site and Lee on Solent to the south. The B3385 connects to the M27 to the north and the B3334 to the south.

The immediate surrounding area is predominantly agricultural/greenfield land with an established residential area to the south and east. The area to the north is characterised by commercial uses, with an industrial estate comprising a number of light industrial units including a car showroom, supermarket, bowling alley, and a number of trade counter units.
